Edition 2025 — Fossanova Medieval Festival
Fossanova Medieval Festival 2025 — 25th edition
From August 11 to 13, 2025, the village of Fossanova, in Priverno, hosted the twenty-fifth edition of the Medieval Festival, dedicated to Saint Thomas Aquinas in the year of the eighth centenary of the saint's birth, who died in the Cistercian abbey in 1274.
Every evening, from 6:00 PM, the village came alive with carousels and parades, historical processions and flag-waver performances, dances, medieval fencing re-enactments, falconry, itinerant musical shows, comic juggling, jesters, giant soap bubbles, acrobatics, stilts, commedia dell'arte, and grand fire and aerial dance shows.
The medieval camp featured ancient crafts, chivalric duels, and craft workshops, while the abbey garden hosted markets, falconry demonstrations, and games for children. In the Auditorium of the Infirmary of the Conversi, the theatrical show Paolo and Francesca was performed, repeated three times each evening; in the cloister, workshops on medicinal and liqueur herbs were held, along with an exhibition on medieval cuisine and the Philosophical Café. The village taverns and bistros, including Le Locande nella Grande Arena, Le Capanne, and La Dolce…Via, served traditional dishes, local products, and street food.
