Fiera di Sant'Antonio di Vassalini

A festival of faith and village life

In Chiesa in Valmalenco, in the province of Sondrio, the Fiera di Sant'Antonio is an event rooted in the tradition of Valmalenco. It is celebrated every year on June 13th, the day dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, co-patron saint along with Saint Stephen of the church built in the center of the village of Vassalini between 1666 and 1668.

Between devotion and fair

The festival of Saint Anthony has always been well-attended by the inhabitants and represents one of the most vibrant expressions of popular devotion in Valmalenco. Over the years, the fair has been relocated along the road connecting Vassalini to Chiesa in Valmalenco, also extending along Via Faldrini, while the celebration of the saint has returned to the day dedicated to him, June 13th.

An attraction for the whole valley

Today, the Fiera di Sant'Antonio remains an important event for residents and an attraction for tourists and the inhabitants of Valtellina. With stalls, local products, and festive moments, the event retains its charm as a mountain fair, capable of combining the religious dimension with the convivial and commercial aspects, in one of the most characteristic villages in the province of Sondrio.
