The historic fair of the quintessential Christmas sweet, between devotion to the Madonna del Castello and deliciousness
The Fiera del Torrone di Carpenedolo is one of the oldest and most characteristic events in the province of Brescia. Its origins date back to 1787, when the fair was established in close connection with the Feast of the Madonna del Castello, celebrated on December 8th. Since then, every year, around the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the historic center of Carpenedolo fills with stalls and the aroma of nougat, in a union of religious devotion and confectionery tradition.
The heart of the fair is, of course, nougat (torrone), the quintessential Christmas sweet, offered here by the best producers from all over Italy: crumbly or soft nougat, with almonds, hazelnuts, chocolate, in the infinite variations that make this dessert a symbol of Italian Christmas. The streets of the historic center turn into a paradise for gourmets, where you can taste and buy specialties to bring home for the holidays.
Alongside the nougat stands, the fair features a rich market of hobbyists and artisans, ideal for finding original gift ideas for the holidays. The atmosphere is typical of Advent, with lights, decorations, and moments of music and entertainment that accompany visitors along the way. It's an opportunity to experience Christmas in a village setting, authentic and welcoming.
The fair remains inextricably linked to the devotion to the Madonna del Castello, whose sanctuary overlooks the Municipality of Carpenedolo from the top of the hill. The bond between faith and popular festival is what makes this event special: not just a commercial fair, but an event that tells the soul of a community in the Bassa Bresciana and its centuries-old history.
The 2026 edition of the Fiera del Torrone di Carpenedolo is expected around the Immaculate Conception period, around December 8th, coinciding with the Feast of the Madonna del Castello. Indicative dates are December 6-8, to be confirmed by Pro Loco Carpenedolo. As tradition dictates, the historic center will host stands from the best producers of the famous Christmas sweet, from all over Italy, along with a market of hobbyists and artisans offering Christmas gift ideas. The detailed program will be published by Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to the event.
