Festival of the Most Holy Crucifix

The 2025 edition of the Festival of the Most Holy Crucifix in Ciminna, in the province of Palermo, confirmed the vitality of a tradition rooted in 1651.

The heart of the festivities was the furriata ri' torci in Piazza San Giovanni, with two groups of caparisoned mules performing their synchronized laps amidst music, the tossing of sweets, and the ringing of bells. The procession of the Crucifix, carried on the shoulders of barefoot devotees dressed in white with red sashes, moved through the historic center with great participation.

There was no shortage of the local produce fair, musical performances, and the flavors of Ciminna's cuisine, in a festive atmosphere that reunites the entire community and its emigrants every year.
