The August 15th Festival
In Villanova Marchesana, a small municipality in the province of Rovigo overlooking the banks of the Po River, the Assumption Day is the most important anniversary of the year. The parish church is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and on August 15th, the feast of the Assumption of Mary, the traditional village festival is held.

Villanova Marchesana is part of the most authentic Polesine, that of the small riverside towns along the Great River. The Assumption festival intertwines Marian devotion with the life of a community tied to the Po, whose roots are also preserved in the name of the local Pro Loco, the association 'Amici del Po' (Friends of the Po).

The Ferragosto festival combines religious celebrations in the parish church with convivial moments organized by the Pro Loco and local associations. It is an occasion for Villanova Marchesana to renew, in the heart of summer, its bond with its own tradition and with the river that shapes its identity.
