The Assumption Feast on the Hill

The Festival of the Assumption and the Ferragosto celebration of Bizzarone, a municipality in the Province of Como bordering Switzerland. It takes place in the evocative setting of the Sant'Ambrogio Hill, where for eight consecutive evenings the community gathers around good food and Marian devotion.

Different Cuisine Every Evening

The highlight of the festival is the cuisine, rich and varied: each evening offers a different menu, with dishes ranging from polenta with venison to perch risotto, from polenta with shrimp to polenta with donkey, and porcini mushroom risotto. These are complemented by fixed offerings such as pizzoccheri, tripe, grilled meat, cured meats, goat cheese, and traditional cakes. A variety that makes every evening a different occasion.

Music, Shuttle, and Devotion

The evenings are enlivened by live music, while the hill is accessible on foot or by a convenient free shuttle. The festival culminates on August 15th, Assumption Day, with the solemn Mass. Organized by the association I Carbunatt, a founding Avis group, the event is one of the most anticipated of the Bizzarone summer and combines celebration, gastronomy, and religious tradition.
