In Monterosso, a hamlet of Abano Terme in the province of Padua, the Festival of Bigoli al Torcio is the most anticipated event of the summer. The stars are bigoli al torcio, a long pasta made with an ancient press, recognized here as a product with municipal designation (De.Co.).
In the Sign of Saint Bartholomew
The festival coincides with the patronal feast of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle (August 24). The connection with the saint is also found on the menu, with two symbolic dishes: "Bigoi di San Bartolomeo", green spinach bigoli seasoned with cherry tomatoes and basil, and the "Dolce di San Bartolomeo", a fig and dried fruit tart — the fig is the fruit traditionally associated with the saint.
