Edition 2025 — Festino di San Vito
The Festino di San Vito 2025 was held in Mazara del Vallo from August 17 to 24, under the title "Pilgrims in the Heart and History of Mazara." The opening on Sunday, August 17, was marked by the ringing of the sacred bells of the Cathedral, the baroque historical pageant, and the floral tribute to the Patron Saint.
On the night between August 20 and 21, the evocative Patron Saint's Torchlight Procession took place, with the statue placed on the triumphal chariot and pulled by the fishermen of Mazara. On Thursday, August 21, from 7 PM, the historical pageant of living tableaux featured about 400 participants — including artists from London, Rome, and abroad — among them dancers, singers, and musicians, with a white voices choir and narrator, to re-enact the life of the Martyr Saint Vitus. On Saturday, August 23, a costume exhibition was held at the Episcopal Seminary, followed by Holy Mass in the Cathedral and a White Night with the opening of historic center churches. The solemn final procession, on Sunday, August 24, concluded with the boarding of the statue and the casting of a laurel wreath into the sea in memory of lost sailors. The event was organized by the Municipality and the Diocese of Mazara del Vallo, with the patronage of the Sicilian Region.
