The miracle of 1537

The Festa di Nostra Signora dei Miracoli in Cicagna, in Val Fontanabuona (Metropolitan City of Genoa), has its roots in a miraculous event. According to tradition, in 1537 the statue of the Madonna preserved in the village church suddenly transfigured during Mass, reviving its colours and making already withered flowers bloom again. This episode gave rise to the devotion that still animates the festival today.
