Todi's Most Beloved Festival
The Festa della Consolazione is the main religious and civil event in Todi, in the province of Perugia. It is dedicated to Santa Maria della Consolazione, whose devotion is linked to the famous Renaissance temple that stands at the foot of the city, a masterpiece of 16th-century architecture attributed to Bramante's school. The celebrations focus around September 8th, the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin.

For several days, the city experiences an intertwining of religious and cultural moments: the triduum of prayer and solemn masses, the Sacred Music Festival with choral and organ music concerts, the market fair along the streets of the center, Renaissance games for families organized by the Medieval Company of Todi, and cultural and literary initiatives. The festival traditionally concludes with a highly anticipated fireworks display.

Festa della Consolazione — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Festa della Consolazione renews the tradition that each year brings the people of Todi together around the Temple of Santa Maria della Consolazione. The days, between September 5th and 8th, alternate between the triduum of prayer, the solemn masses of September 8th presided over by the Bishop, concerts of the Sacred Music Festival, the fair along the streets of the center, and cultural and recreational moments for all ages. At dusk on September 8th, the fireworks display concludes the festival.

How to get there
Todi is reachable by car from the E45 (Todi exit). The Temple of Santa Maria della Consolazione is located just outside the walls, along the road leading to the historic center, where the celebrations and the fair take place.
