Ferragosto Processions — Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Roch

In the heart of summer 2025, the Marsican village of Cappadocia renewed its Ferragosto processions, the two most important events of the year for the community. On August 15th, the streets of the historic center welcomed the procession in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Anthony; on August 16th, the procession dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows and Saint Roch took place, with the traditional participation of the village women dressed in black beside the statue of the Madonna, who was also draped in mourning attire.

As per custom, the two days combined the religious dimension with the popular one: the Pro Loco of Cappadocia offered civil festivities with dancing, traditional songs, and local culinary offerings, drawing residents, returning emigrants, and visitors to the village.
