A Feast of Faith and Community at the Capuchin Convent in Corinaldo

In June, when the Church celebrates the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Convent of the Capuchin Friars in Corinaldo becomes the center of one of the most deeply rooted religious festivals in the area. It is a popular event in the truest sense: organized by the Community of the Capuchin Fathers along with the organizing committee, it gathers Corinaldo residents and faithful from the neighboring villages in the Nevola valley around the convent.

The Triduum and Celebrations

The feast opens with a three-day preparation (triduum), marked by morning masses and led by a Capuchin preacher father. The main day, Sunday, is entirely dedicated to celebrations: masses follow one another from early morning until noon, with moments reserved for men and youth, the elderly and the sick, and the solemn mass presided over by the Capuchin Provincial Father, accompanied by the parish choir.

Shows and Conviviality in the Park

Alongside the spiritual dimension, the Feast of the Sacred Heart retains its festive and family-friendly character. In the evenings, the convent park hosts shows: the performance of the "L'Araba Fenice" Drums and Flag-Wavers group from Corinaldo, with its flag displays and drum rhythms, and the "Friar Magician" show, which entertains young and old with his magic tricks. During the weekend afternoons, a refreshment stand is set up with piadina and other specialties, offering an opportunity to stop and chat in the shade of the convent's trees.

Corinaldo, a Village in the Nevola Valley

The feast takes place in Corinaldo, in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region: one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, famous for its 15th-century walls, among the best-preserved in the region, and for being the birthplace of Saint Maria Goretti.
