Edition 2025 — Madonna della Purificazione
The 2025 edition of the festival confirmed the vitality of a tradition rooted in the Capo di Leuca. After the novena that began on January 24th in the Church of the Confraternity of the Purification, the eve of Saturday, February 1st, featured the blessing of the candles and the procession of the Madonna's statue to the Mother Church, followed by the pre-festival mass.
On Sunday, February 2nd, the day of Candlemas, the village of Salignano gathered for the solemn mass and the procession with the blessed candles, reaffirming the deep bond between faith and community in the small village of Castrignano del Capo, in the province of Lecce.
Programme
Eve — Saturday, February 1st
- 5:30 PM — Blessing of the candles in the Church of the Confraternity of the Purification
- Followed by — Procession with the statue of the Madonna to the Mother Church and pre-festival Holy Mass
Feast — Sunday, February 2nd
- 11:00 AM — Holy Mass in the Mother Church
- 4:00 PM — Procession with the blessed candles
- Upon return — Celebration of Holy Mass
