Feast of the Madonna della Provvidenza

In 2025, the patronal feast of Zafferana Etnea confirmed its well-established format. On Saturday, the brass band paraded through the town streets and, after Mass in the Mother Church, the procession with the offering of wax to the Virgin was held at the shrine of the Madonna della Provvidenza. On Sunday, the solemn pontifical mass represented the liturgical highlight, while on Monday evening, the procession of the wooden fercolo with the gold-decorated polychrome statue traveled for about four hours through the city streets, accompanied by the sound of bells, the band, and fireworks, amidst liturgical celebrations, cultural events, folklore shows, popular music concerts, and stands with local specialties.
