Feast of the Madonna della Lettera

On June 3, 2025, Messina paid tribute to its patron saint, the Madonna della Lettera, with a day marked by numerous celebrations in the Cathedral Basilica.

The morning opened with the Eucharistic celebration at 8:30 AM, presided over by Monsignor Angelo Oteri, Canon Protometropolitan of the Cathedral Basilica, followed at 11:00 AM by the solemn Pontifical Mass presided over by the Abbot Ordinary of the Territorial Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Dom Diego Gualtiero Rosa. In the afternoon, at 5:00 PM, another Eucharistic celebration was led by Monsignor Roberto Romeo.

At 6:30 PM, the Holy Rosary was held, followed by the procession of the silver statue starting from Piazza Duomo along Corso Cavour, Via Tommaso Cannizzaro, Via Garibaldi (mountain side), Via I Settembre, and returning to Piazza Duomo. To close the festivities, at 10:00 PM, a fireworks display took place.
