Feast of the Madonna dell'Assunta (Ferragosto – Vestea)

The 2025 Feast of the Madonna dell'Assunta confirmed the vitality of a deeply felt tradition in Vestea. During the Ferragosto days, the small hamlet of Civitella Casanova, in the Province of Pescara, was repopulated thanks to the return of emigrants, who reopen the village's ancestral homes every summer.

Religious moments dedicated to the Madonna were accompanied by the festival of pasta and beans with pork ribs, a signature dish of Abruzzese peasant cuisine, while the Torre square hosted vernacular comedies of dialect theater. A modest and authentic celebration that combined devotion, community memory, and the flavors of inland Abruzzo.
