Feast of the Madonna dell'Alemanna

The 2025 edition of the Feast of the Madonna dell'Alemanna took place in Gela (CL) from September 5th to 8th, culminating on the day of the patron saint. From September 5th, the city dressed in lights and colors, welcoming local craft exhibitions, stalls, sporting competitions between neighborhoods, the Palio dell'Alemanna, and the ancient Palliantino competition ("U paliu 'a 'ntinna") on the soap-covered beam suspended over the sea.

On September 8th, after the solemn pontifical mass, the procession of the Sacred Byzantine Icon began at 6:30 PM through the city streets, with the stripping of the children and traditional stops at the monumental cemetery, City Hall, Viale Mediterraneo, the Windmill, and Porta Caltagirone, accompanied by brass bands. The evening concluded with the seaside fireworks display.
