Feast of the Assumption of Mary

The 2025 edition

The 2025 Feast of the Assumption in San Cataldo confirmed its traditional format. Starting from the last Sunday of July, the ancient wax statue of the "dormitio Virginis" was displayed in the Cathedral. From July 31st to August 14th, the fifteen days of prayer took place in the Mother Church, with the Rosary at 5:30 PM and Holy Mass at 6:00 PM, preceded by the Litany.

On August 14th, the eve of the solemnity, the Litany was sung at the Church of San Francesco "Ex-Cappuccini," a solemn Mass was celebrated, and a floral tribute was paid to the Madonna. On August 15th, the festival culminated with twenty-one cannon shots, a solemn Mass in Piazza Madrice at 7:30 PM, the procession of the 1957 wooden statue through the main streets of the town, and the fireworks display in front of the Church of San Francesco.
