Feast of the Assumption

The Feast of the Assumption 2025 in Cassino celebrated an important anniversary: 80 years since the first Coronation of August 1945, when the statue of the Madonna returned to parade among the ruins of the city destroyed by the war. The celebrations were preceded by the novena (August 6-14) in the Co-Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

On August 13th, the "Lights for Mary" Marian candlelight procession took place; on August 14th, at 11:30 AM on Via del Foro, the traditional Inchinata and Coronation rite was presided over by Bishop Gerardo Antonazzo, with 21 bearers carrying the litter. On August 15th, the Solemnity of the Assumption, the 11:00 AM Eucharistic celebration, the 6:30 PM solemn pontifical mass, and at 7:30 PM, the procession through the city streets concluded with a blessing and fireworks. The evenings featured performances by the Alma Latina Dance School, the Giuliano Spina Orchestra, Mario Naselli and Francesco D'Aleo, and the Modàndo tribute band to close the festivities.
