Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian

The 2025 Feast of the Medici Saints Cosmas and Damian was celebrated in Melendugno, in the province of Lecce, on Friday, September 26th, confirming a deeply felt event for the Salento community.

The central moment was the 6:00 PM solemn mass in the mother church, followed by the procession with the statues of the Medici Saints along the streets of the center. As the parade passed, the evocative luminarie, created by the De Cagna company—the same ones set up for the feast of San Niceta—were switched on.

On the secular side, Piazza Pertini hosted the "Città di Monteroni" grand brass band concert, in the best tradition of Puglian touring bands, while in Via Calimera, on the outskirts of town, Pirotecnica Napoletana put on a show with fireworks during the procession. The organization was managed by the Maria Santissima Assunta Parish, the Patronal Festival Committee, and the municipal administration.
