The 2025 patronal feast

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Saint Nicholas the Bishop confirmed the strong bond between the community of Cursi and its patron saint. In the heart of the small village of Lecce stone, in the province of Lecce, the festivities opened with the preparatory triduum and Eucharistic celebrations in the neoclassical Mother Church dedicated to Saint Nicholas.

The culminating moment was the procession, with the statue of the saint transported on shoulders along the streets of the historic center decorated with characteristic illuminations. The civil part of the festival featured itinerant brass bands and square concerts, while fireworks lit up the Salento sky at the conclusion of the festivities. As per tradition, the devotion to Saint Nicholas was intertwined with that for the Madonna dell'Abbondanza, venerated in the sanctuary at the gates of the town.
