Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel

In 2025, the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel in Villafranca Sicula confirmed the vitality of a tradition deeply rooted in the small town of the Agrigento area. The Saint Michael the Archangel Association, active and present even during the summer festivities of Maria SS. del Mirto in August 2025, guarded the devotion to the Archangel throughout the year.

As per tradition, the September recurrence culminated in the evening procession of the statue of Saint Michael through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by the 'rigattiate': the statue carried at a run back and forth across the town squares, to the rhythm of the band, amidst applause and great popular participation. An appointment that united faith, identity, and community celebration in the heart of inland Sicily.
