Feast of Saint Lawrence and U Battimentu

2025 Edition

In 2025, Aidone once again renewed its most cherished tradition. On August 8th and 9th, the Associazione Contessa Adelasia staged U Battimentu, the period-costume re-enactment of the clash between groups of Christian and Saracen knights, with two assaults culminating in the defeat of the Saracens and the final parade toward the village.

On August 10th, the day of the patron saint, the solemn Eucharistic Celebration and the procession of the statue of Saint Lawrence took place through the streets of the historic center, concluding with a fireworks display on the night of the shooting stars. The festival, accompanied by musical performances and band concerts, was recognized and funded by the Sicilian Region with Assessorial Decree no. 25 of June 25, 2025, confirming its identity value for the community of Aidone, in the province of Enna.
