Edition 2025 — Feast of Saint John

On the third weekend of July 2025, San Giovanni la Punta celebrated its Patron Saint, John the Apostle and Evangelist. The Saturday eve was dedicated to the procession of the relic with the offering of wax; on Sunday, the triumphant exit of the statue on the wooden fercolo took place amidst showers of multicolored paper, festive bell ringing, fireworks, and the traditional cantata in honor of the Saint.

The 2025 edition

The 2025 summer celebrations in honor of Saint John the Evangelist took place on the third weekend of July in the historic center of San Giovanni la Punta (Catania). On Saturday evening, the community experienced the procession of the relic with the unveiling of the Patron Saint and the offering of wax: the procession departed from the church of San Giuseppe and, traveling through the main streets of the town, reached the Mother Church for the Solemn Mass, in the presence of the local clergy and civil and military representatives.

On Sunday, after the translation of the statue to the high altar, Saint John made his first triumphant exit from the Mother Church on the wooden fercolo in the afternoon, welcomed by showers of multicolored paper, festive bell ringing, applause, and fireworks. To conclude, the traditional cantata in honor of Saint John was performed with the sacred hymns of the local tradition.
