Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi at the Santa Maria Occorrevole Convent

Saint Francis 2025 on Monte Muto

The 2025 edition of the feast took place on Saturday, October 4, at the Franciscan sanctuary of Santa Maria Occorrevole, in Piedimonte Matese, in the province of Caserta. The day began at 5:30 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary: during the prayer, the friars remained available for confessions.

At 6:00 PM, the Solemn Holy Mass, presided over by Father Antonio Ridolfi, Provincial Minister of the Friars Minor of the Salerno-Lucania Province, brought together the novice community and the faithful who had climbed up from the town and nearby centers. The celebration recalled the spirit of the Poverello, made of joy, dialogue, encounter, song, and praise to God.

As every year, the feast confirmed the role of the sanctuary—with its imposing bell tower dominating the valley, the Solitudine hermitage, the small church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, and the novitiate quarters—as a spiritual landmark for the Matese and the entire middle Volturno valley.
