The patron saint's feast of Monte San Pietrangeli with fair, tradition, and li caciù
The Feast in honor of Saint Blaise is the most cherished event of the year for the Municipality of Monte San Pietrangeli, a small hilltop village in the Province of Fermo, in the Marche region. Saint Blaise is the patron saint of the town, and his feast, which falls in early February, brings the entire community together for several days of religious devotion, gastronomic tradition, and the historic fair.
The secular heart of the festivities is the Saint Blaise Fair, which winds along Viale Marconi from the early morning hours until evening. Stalls selling local products, handicrafts, sweets, and goods of all kinds animate the streets of the historic center, attracting visitors from all over the Tenna valley and neighboring towns. It is a fair with ancient roots, an integral part of the village's identity.
The most delicious moment is the Sagra de li Caciù, held at the Pro Loco headquarters. Li caciù (or caciù de fava) are large ravioli made of fragrant egg pasta, fried and filled with a savory puree of fava beans, eggs, and pecorino cheese: a simple and ancient specialty of Monturanese and Fermo cuisine, always linked to the patron saint's feast and prepared until Carnival. Alongside the caciù, other typical local sweets are also available.
The liturgical day of February 3rd is dedicated to devotion to the Saint: in the morning, Mass is celebrated in the crypt of the Collegiata, while in the afternoon, the procession with the relic of Saint Blaise crosses the historic center accompanied by the Mauro Cecchini band. The feast concludes with Solemn Mass, the distribution of blessed bread, the traditional blessing of the throat, and the offering of candles, according to the rite associated with the patron saint.
Theater performances in dialect, the inauguration of cultural initiatives, and moments of conviviality complete a calendar designed for all ages. Organized by the Pro Loco of Monte San Pietrangeli with the Municipality, the festivities are free admission and offer visitors an authentic glimpse into the winter traditions of the Fermo area.
Sunday, February 1st, 2026, the day opened with the Saint Blaise Fair along Viale Marconi (from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and the Sagra de li Caciù at the Pro Loco headquarters (from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
