Edition 2025 — Saint Anthony the Abbot in Mesagne
The 2025 Edition
The 2025 edition of the Feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot took place on Friday, January 17, at the Mater Domini Sanctuary Parish in Mesagne, in the province of Brindisi. The day opened with the solemn Holy Mass at 5:30 PM, followed at 6:00 PM by the blessing of the animals in the church square, where the faithful brought their pets and livestock.
In keeping with tradition, the votive bonfire was lit, a symbol of purification and hope for the new agricultural year, around which the community gathered for the 'pettolata': the tasting of hot 'pettole', typical of Apulian cuisine, accompanied by musical moments. An event that confirmed the devotion of the people of Mesagne to the patron saint of animals.
