Edition 2025 — Saint Anthony in Melissano (June)

On June 13th, 2025, Melissano observed the liturgical feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, its patron saint. In the Lecce Salento, the date marked, as is tradition, the lighting of the first summer illuminations and a moment of devotion and celebration shared by the community, with religious services, a procession, and market stalls along the streets of the center.

In 2025, Melissano once again celebrated Saint Anthony of Padua on June 13th, the fixed date of the patron saint's liturgical memorial. In the town of lower Salento, in the province of Lecce, the day combined religious participation, including a procession through the historic center, with the festive atmosphere of the beginning of the Salento summer.

As tradition dictates, June 13th coincided with the lighting of the first illuminations of the season, accompanied by market stalls and local products. The event remained distinct from the major popular patronal feast that Melissano celebrates in early September.
