Feast of Our Lady of Miracles

A Sanctuary Between History and Devotion

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Miracles in Lonigo, province of Vicenza, is one of the most important Renaissance monuments in the Vicenza area and a deeply felt pilgrimage destination. Its origin dates back to the miracle of 1486: according to tradition, the image of Our Lady, struck by a sacrilegious act, bled from its wounds, initiating a cult that was confirmed by ecclesiastical investigations in 1492.

The Annual Feast

The main celebration takes place on the 4th Sunday after Easter — on May 3rd in 2026 — with solemn liturgies in the sanctuary entrusted to the Friars Minor. The feast is enriched by papal privileges granted over the centuries and gathers faithful from all over the territory around the sanctuary.

The Processions

The devotional calendar linked to Our Lady of Miracles includes two highly participatory procession events: on May 1st, with the community pilgrimage in memory of the miraculous event, and on the last Sunday of May, when the wooden statue of Our Lady is carried on the shoulders through the streets of Lonigo by young people reaching adulthood that year, for whom participation is considered a great honor. A tradition that intertwines faith, identity, and community.
