Feast of Maria SS. della Mercede – Capo District

The 2025 edition

In 2025, the Feast of Maria SS. della Mercede once again brought the Capo district of Palermo, in Sicily, to life during the last week of September. The festivities opened with the affacciata of the statue and the officiatura of dedication of the district to the Virgin, followed by the solemn triduum and the morning alborata amidst festive bells.

The most anticipated moment, on the last Sunday of the month, was the triumphal exit of the venerated wooden statue with the traditional Scinnuta along the Piazza Capo staircase and the Vulata i l'ancili, welcomed by a crowd of faithful under a rain of colorful paper. The procession traveled through the streets of Capo accompanied by the band, with the usual homage to the district's barracks, before the final fireworks display.
