Feast of Maria SS. della Catena

The 2025 edition of the patronal feast of Aci Catena (Catania) took place on August 15th and 16th, confirming the established structure of the festivities in honor of Maria Santissima della Catena.

Traditional rites marked the two days: the Consolato with the ringing of the "Campana Maria", the Svelata and the transfer of the statue to the high altar on the morning of August 15th, the solemn afternoon procession through the town streets, and on August 16th, the evocative Trasuta o chianu, the festive entry of the float into the square amidst the waving of white handkerchiefs.

The festivities, coordinated by the Mother Church parish together with the municipal administration, attracted residents and returning emigrants for Ferragosto, as they do every year, in one of the most heartfelt expressions of popular religiosity in Eastern Sicily.
