Edition 2025 — Feast of Maria SS. del Lume
The 2025 patronal feast of Maria SS. del Lume in Linera, a village in Santa Venerina (Catania), was a particularly significant edition. On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Mother Church reopened its doors to the faithful after two years of closure, which had become necessary in 2023 following the fall of debris from the dome. The restoration, worth approximately 200,000 euros, was funded by the Superintendency for Cultural Heritage of Catania and supplemented by the parish's self-financing.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration of the reopening was presided over by the Bishop of Acireale, Monsignor Antonino Raspanti, together with the parish priest Father Andrea Sciacca, in the presence of Mayor Santo Raciti. The reopening allowed the community to experience once again, inside their own church, the traditional procession of the statue on the artistic wooden fercolo, accompanied by the fair and the fireworks that enliven the Etna village every year.
