Edition 2025 — Feast of Maria SS. di Basicò

The 2025 edition of the Feast of Maria Santissima di Basicò took place from August 12th to 21st, featuring a novena rich in themed celebrations: food collection day, Eucharistic day with adoration, day for the sick, the Solemnity of the Assumption on August 15th, confirmations, baptisms, and vocational day. On August 20th, the vigil welcomed Auxiliary Bishop Msgr. Cesare Di Pietro, while on August 21st, the feast culminated with the procession of the fercolo and fireworks.

The 2025 Feast of Maria Santissima di Basicò was celebrated from August 12th to 21st in the Nebrodi village in the province of Messina. The novena marked the days with rosary and evening mass, along with thematic days: August 12th, the food collection day with mass by Father Salvatore Puleo; August 13th, Eucharistic day with adoration; August 14th, day for the sick; August 15th, Solemnity of the Assumption; August 16th, youth confirmations; August 17th, baptisms; August 18th, vocational day; and August 19th, pilgrims' day.

On August 20th, the vigil featured the 6:00 PM welcome of Auxiliary Bishop Msgr. Cesare Di Pietro, preceded by a meeting of the bearers. On August 21st, the patronal day, the festive bell ringing at 6:00 AM announced the start of the feast, followed by the dawn mass at 6:30 AM; at 9:30 AM, the Casalvecchio Siculo band marched through the town, and at 11:00 AM, the solemn celebration was held. In the afternoon, at 5:30 PM, the welcome of the Sacred Hair of the Madonna kept in the Cathedral of Messina took place, followed by the 6:00 PM Eucharistic celebration and the 7:00 PM triumphal procession of the fercolo. The festivities were framed on August 19th by the 52nd Provola Basicotana Festival and the 2nd "Provola Food" review, featuring traditional music and flag-wavers from Motta Sant'Anastasia.
