Edition 2025 — Carretiello Threshing Festival
For five days, from July 30 to August 3, 2025, the Carretiello district of Roccadaspide returned to being a living threshing floor. The opening, on Wednesday, July 30, saw the parade of vintage agricultural machines in the afternoon and, at 7 PM, the inaugural ceremony with the blessing of the grain and the first threshing.
The evenings were marked by local musical groups: the Diapason Band on July 30 and in closing on August 3, Silvestro Folk & Titti on July 31, I Valcalore on August 1, Tonino Battagliese e I Cugini del Liscio on August 2. From 8:30 PM, the stalls offered handmade cavatelli, zitoni with sauce, braciole, fried meatballs, the local stuffed eggplant, Roccadaspide pizza, artisanal cured meats, and local wine.
President Giuseppe Iuliano and Vice President Gaetano Menichino of the Carretiello in Evoluzione association reiterated the goal of the event: to safeguard the memory of the territory and the rural and gastronomic traditions before they are lost. The festival, without public funding, relied on the work of the district families, who had sown and cared for the grain using old-fashioned methods.
