Edition 2025 — Falò and Mattre of Erchie

In 2025, Erchie once again celebrated Saint Joseph with the Falò and Mattre on March 18th and 19th. On the evening of March 18th, the massive olive branch fanò was lit following the Saint's procession, blending faith and spectacle with Salento folk music in the square. On March 19th, the mattre tables featured the thirteen traditional peasant dishes, blessed after the Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of Santa Lucia, in a deeply shared ritual of devotion and solidarity.

2025 Edition

The 2025 edition of the Falò and Mattre of Saint Joseph took place in Erchie (Brindisi) on March 18th and 19th, renewing the ancient Salento tradition of fire and laden tables.

On the evening of March 18th, after the Holy Mass and the procession of the statue of Saint Joseph, the monumental bonfire of olive bundles, over fifteen meters high, was lit amidst faith and spectacle. The evening continued with Salento folk music and entertainment in the square.

On March 19th, the Saint's day, the streets of the historic center hosted the mattre, tables laden with thirteen typical dishes of peasant cuisine—from tria to fried vegetables, salt cod to legumes—blessed after the Holy Mass at the Sanctuary of Santa Lucia. An event that confirmed Erchie as a guardian of one of the most authentic traditions in Puglia.
