Explorers with Taste: The Park in 360 Degrees
Explorers with Taste is the series of experiential excursions that animate Acquasanta Terme, a mountain municipality in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, in the heart of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. Born as part of the sustainable tourism project Rediscovering the Park in 360°, the event offers a series of free appointments that combine the pleasure of walking with the discovery of the gastronomic traditions and the agricultural and artisanal realities of the Apennines.
Walking and Tasting the Territory
Each stage is designed as a complete experience: it starts with a guided excursion along the Ancient Mule Tracks of Acquasanta, amidst dry stone walls, beech and chestnut woods, crossing springs, streams, and rural villages like Umito, Fleno, and San Gregorio. Along the way, stories, memories, and educational workshops come to life, while at the end of each walk, you always reach the most delicious part: a tasting of typical local products at the farms in the area.
The Flavors of the Laga
The common thread of the review is the authentic products of this mountainous part of the Marche region: summer black truffle, chestnuts and their derivatives, wild mushrooms, honey, and artisanal jams. Tastings take place at the businesses that preserve these flavors, such as the La Valle dell'Orso farm or the Ferroni Montecalvo Farm, transforming each outing into a journey through landscape and taste.
A Project for Families and the Curious
The events of Esploratori con Gusto are designed for a wide audience: hikers, bike lovers, families with children, and the simply curious. The offerings range from trekking to e-bike tours, from workshops on bees to fun climbing walls for the little ones. All events are free, with booking recommended, and take place in collaboration with the environmental hiking guides Explora Guide, the Pro Loco of Acquasanta Terme, and the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.

The Bike and Hike Edition of Esploratori con Gusto brought a diverse audience to the Valle dell'Orso in Umito, a hamlet of Acquasanta Terme (AP): those who love walking, those who prefer cycling, and those who simply wish to spend a day outdoors amidst landscapes, stories, and local products. The initiative highlighted the natural and cultural richness of the Acquasanta territory, within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, with a program also suitable for families.
Programme Explorers with Taste 2026
Sunday, March 22, 2026 — Valle dell'Orso, Umito
Day structured as a double outdoor experience, with multiple parallel proposals:
- Guided Trekking — route through beech and chestnut woods amidst springs and watercourses, passing by the Rio Garrafo and the Prata and Volpara waterfalls, with a visit to an ancient bread oven. Available in a short and an extended version.
- E-bike Tour — dynamic itinerary immersed in nature and local history, experienced as a tool to interpret the landscape.
- Activities for Children — sports climbing wall, designed for a fun and safe first approach to movement in nature.
- Storytelling of the Territory — along the walk, the intervention of the President of the Comunanza Agraria di Montacuto, with narratives on the ancient border path, collective resource management, and the history of the Comunanza.
- Final Tasting — at the La Valle dell'Orso farm, with summer black truffle, chestnuts and their derivatives, wild mushrooms, honey, and jams.

Where

How to get there
Acquasanta Terme can be reached by car via the SS4 Salaria, about 20 minutes from Ascoli Piceno. The nearest train station is Ascoli Piceno, connected by bus to the area.
