Luigi Ravasio's roundels between abstraction and spirituality, in the Grotta Church
In Romano di Lombardia (Province of Bergamo, Lombardy), the Grotta Church, in Piazza San Defendente, hosts the exhibition 'Intuition and Method' by painter Luigi Ravasio. The title alludes to the dialogue between creative impulse and compositional rigor that runs through the artist's work, represented here by a selection of paintings and drawings that invites the viewer to an experience of contemplation.
On display is a selection of paintings and sketches on paper, predominantly roundels created between the '90s and 2000s, with a clear spiritual inspiration. The circular form of the roundel, dear to Italian pictorial tradition, becomes for Ravasio a space for meditation, where abstraction becomes a vehicle for inner research. The exhibition also includes a series inspired by the Via Crucis in a contemporary key.
The installation in the Grotta Church, an exhibition promoted by MACS (Museum of Sacred Art and Culture) and the Fondazione Credito Bergamasco (Creberg), creates an intense dialogue between the works and the sacred context. The spiritual dimension of Ravasio's roundels finds an ideal setting in the church space, capable of amplifying their message. The inauguration is accompanied by a concert in the Basilica of San Defendente.
With free admission, 'Intuition and Method' offers the public of Romano di Lombardia and the Bergamo area an encounter with refined and profound art. An event that confirms the cultural vitality of the town and its commitment to promoting contemporary art with a spiritual theme.
