Brescia Celebrates Europe

European May is the festival that transforms Brescia into a laboratory of European citizenship every year. Organized by the Municipality of Brescia with Europe Direct Brescia, the event distributes a dense calendar of events throughout the month of May, covering culture, current affairs, and civic engagement, in the capital of the Province of Brescia.

Europe Day on May 9th

The central moment is the Europe Day celebration on May 9th, which in the 2026 edition links to an important anniversary: the fortieth anniversary of Portugal and Spain's accession to the European Union. The day, which also takes place at Parco di via Fura — officially dedicated to the European Union — offers reading initiatives such as "Brescia to be read", the cycling project "Blu in bici" with author meetings, conferences throughout the city, and screenings at Cinema Nuovo Eden.

Culture, Cinema, and Debate

The European May program ranges from thematic conferences to European cinema, from literary encounters to activities for schools and young people. The goal is to bring citizens closer to EU topics through different languages, mixing in-depth analysis with festive occasions.
