Edition 2025 — Ear of Wheat Festival

From August 1st to 10th, 2025, Gangi celebrated the 60th edition of the Ear of Wheat Festival and Burgisi Feast, a record-breaking edition that coincided with the 70th anniversary of the Pro Loco of Gangi. Thousands of people crowded the historic center for the Procession of Demeter, featuring over two hundred participants, and for the evocative Stravula, the ancient ox-drawn cart decorated with wheat ears, large loaves of bread, and flowers.

The 60th edition of the Ear of Wheat Festival and Burgisi Feast took place in Gangi from August 1st to 10th, 2025, in an edition celebrated as historic because it coincided with the 70th anniversary of the Pro Loco of Gangi. The Procession of Demeter, with over 200 participants, crossed Piazza San Paolo, Piazza del Popolo, and Viale delle Rimembranze, attracting thousands of visitors. A major highlight was the Stravula, the ancient agricultural cart pulled by oxen and decorated with wheat sheaves, bread, and flowers. After several years, the Memories and Traditions ethno-gastronomic route returned for a seven-day run, created in collaboration with Slow Food Sicily. The event concluded with a concert by the local group La Cicciuzzi. Mayor Giuseppe Ferrarello and Pro Loco President Toni Torregrossa expressed great satisfaction with the success of an edition that was the result of teamwork and a community that believes in its traditions.
