Edition 2025 — Dolls' Baptism
On June 24, 2025, the day of Saint John the Baptist, Barile renewed the Arbëreshë rite of the Baptism of the Dolls. Girls in traditional costume "baptized" handmade dolls with ritual jumps and prayers in Arbëreshë, on a festive day concluded with biscuits for the participants.
The 2025 edition of the Baptism of the Dolls took place in Barile on June 24th, confirming the vitality of a rite passed down since 1730. The village girls, in Arbëreshë costume, enlivened the station square with the three ritual jumps and the prayer in dialect, perpetuating one of the most characteristic traditions of the Lucanian Arbëreshë community.
