Dodda Procession 2025
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 5:00 PM, Villetta Barrea renewed its appointment with the Dodda Procession, the re-enactment of the ancient Abruzzo wedding ritual organized by the Pietramara Cultural Association. In an itinerant format, the procession of women in traditional dress traversed the village streets, carrying the bride's trousseau on their heads, amidst showers of rice, coins, and sugared almonds thrown by the villagers.
The parade was followed by an evening of celebration with folk songs and dances, which animated the squares of the historic center overlooking Lake Barrea, attracting visitors and Villetta natives alike.
