Désarpa of Valpelline

Between late September and early October 2025, the Désarpa of Valpelline renewed the traditional festival of the herds' return from the mountain pastures. The herds, descending from the high-altitude pastures, crossed the municipal territory to the sound of cowbells to the village stables, welcomed by the residents in a festive atmosphere with convivial moments and tastings of typical products. The Désarpa confirmed its value as a living tradition of the Aosta Valley mountains, an expression of a livestock farming culture that still dictates the rhythm of the seasons in the side valley of the Great St Bernard.
