Dance Date, the dance that inhabits Sirolo

Dance Date is the contemporary dance event that animates Sirolo, one of the most evocative villages on the Conero Riviera, in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region, for an entire day. The festival is promoted by HUNT Contemporary Dance Company together with AMAT (Associazione Marchigiana Attività Teatrali) and takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Sirolo.

A project combining art, territory, and neuroscience

Dance Date is part of the strategic project DA.MA.RE. / La Danza che Abita (The Dance that Inhabits), a multidisciplinary initiative conceived by HUNT CdC that unites authorial dance with territorial enhancement and neuroscience applied to movement. The project develops along a cultural axis that also touches the cities of Ancona and Civitanova Marche, using dance as a tool for well-being, knowledge, and dialogue with places.

A widespread stage between the square and the theatre

The day's format alternates between two very different environments. In the late afternoon, dance takes to the urban space and is performed for free outdoors in Piazzale Vittorio Veneto, overlooking the Conero sea. In the evening, the performances move to the historic Teatro Cortesi, in the heart of the village, with more intimate and research-oriented choreographies. Completing the experience are moments of reflection and dialogue that explore the relationship between body, mind, and movement.

Companies and languages of authorial dance

Companies and choreographers from the Italian contemporary scene take turns on the Dance Date stage, from HUNT CdC to Borderline Danza, from ResExtensa / Porta d'Oriente to Kinesis Danza, with works ranging from reinterpretations of classics to more experimental creations. Dance often dialogues with live music and electronic sounds, in a journey that intertwines emotion, body, and landscape.
