Edition 2025 — Cuccia Festival

On December 13, 2025, Saint Lucy's Day, Pietraperzia renewed the tradition of cuccìa. As every year, in a sign of devotion, the village abstained from bread and pasta to share local wheat boiled and seasoned with oil and bay leaves, a symbolic dish of the occasion in the heart of Sicily.

On December 13, 2025, for the feast of Saint Lucy, Pietraperzia honored the custom of cuccìa, the boiled wheat that replaces bread and pasta on Saint Lucy's Day as an act of devotion. In the village in the province of Enna, the day was spent between home preparations and moments of sharing, according to a tradition passed down through generations in Pietraperzia.

The local version features wheat seasoned with olive oil and bay leaves, a simple dish tied to the rural culture of the Heart of Sicily. The celebration confirmed its value as an identity-defining event, capable of symbolically opening the Christmas season in the village.
