Edition 2025 — Cuccia — Castelmezzano
In 2025, Castelmezzano celebrated on December 13th, for Saint Lucia's Day, the Sagra della Cuccia: the dish of grain and legumes cooked in the large cauldron in front of the Mother Church, blessed, and distributed to the faithful as a sign of good luck.
The 2025 edition renewed the tradition passed down for over a century in Castelmezzano. On Saint Lucia's Day, in front of the Mother Church of Santa Maria dell'Olmo, the cuccia made of wheat, fava beans, chickpeas, and vetch was cooked in the large cauldron, blessed, and distributed free of charge to the faithful, in a ritual that unites popular devotion and community sharing in the heart of the Lucanian Dolomites winter.
