Edition 2025 — Contesa della Mezzaluna

In 2025, the Contesa della Mezzaluna once again brought Piazza Pio II in Pienza to life as part of the June 2nd holiday initiatives. The six districts competed in flag and drum events, renewing the traditional challenge for the crescent moon pins.

The 2025 Contesa della Mezzaluna confirmed the appointment with Pienza tradition in Piazza Pio II, Pienza (Siena). The flag-wavers and drummers of the Pienza Musici e Sbandieratori Group, representing the six city districts, brought the usual skill competition to life before the public and the technical jury.

As per tradition, the winning group was awarded the crescent moon pins, a prize that recalls the heraldic symbol of the Piccolomini family. The event was one of the most anticipated moments of the Val d'Orcia spring calendar.
