The grand parade of allegorical floats among the Sibillini Mountains
The Comunanza Carnival is one of the most beloved events in the hinterland of the province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region. At the foot of the Sibillini Mountains, the village of Comunanza dresses up for a few days and becomes the reference point for the Carnival of the entire mountain area, welcoming masked groups and allegorical floats from neighboring municipalities as well.
The Pro Loco APS of Comunanza, the true soul of the event, takes care of every detail. Thanks to the commitment of volunteers, tractor drivers, local associations, and schools in the area, the Carnival has grown to become an event capable of attracting thousands of people. The result is an authentic community celebration, in which the entire village participates in the preparation of the floats and the staging of the choreographies.
The Sunday parade is the most anticipated moment: the allegorical floats, the result of months of work, cross Comunanza accompanied by masked groups, music, and choreographies. The event actively involves the classes of nursery and primary schools and numerous local associations, in a festive atmosphere that unites different generations.
The Comunanza Carnival is not just a local event: its parade attracts groups and floats from nearby municipalities in the Sibillini and Piceno areas, confirming the town's role as the carnival capital of the Ascoli hinterland. For those visiting the Marche in winter, it is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic village and experience a genuine popular festival far from the most touristy destinations.
The Comunanza Carnival 2026 recorded record numbers, confirming itself as one of the flagship events of the Carnival in the Sibillini Mountains. After the Grand Ball on February 14 and the Children's Carnival on Shrove Tuesday, the parade of allegorical floats, initially scheduled for February 15 and postponed due to bad weather, took place on Sunday, February 22, attracting over 15,000 people.
23 allegorical floats and masked groups from neighboring municipalities participated in the parade, in a day of celebration coordinated by the Pro Loco APS of Comunanza with the support of volunteers, associations, and local schools.
