Commemoration of the Apparition of Saint John the Baptist (Patronal Feast)

The 2025 Edition

The patronal feast of Pontecorvo took place in 2025 from May 7 to May 11, organized by the Confraternity of Saint John the Baptist with the Co-Cathedral Basilica of San Bartolomeo Apostolo. The program of the final Sunday, May 11, followed the traditional sequence: at 4:00 AM, the reconciliation mass; at 5:00 AM, the solemn procession towards the sanctuary of San Giovanni Appare in the Melfi area, with the liturgy at the site of the apparition and the renewal of baptismal promises.

At 1:00 PM, the venerated statue returned to the co-cathedral amidst crowds of people, along the streets of the historic center decorated for the occasion. At 6:30 PM, the solemn Eucharistic celebration was held, while the secular part reached its climax at 9:00 PM with the Matia Bazar concert in Piazza De Gasperi, followed at 11:00 PM by the fireworks display that closed the five days of festivities.
