About Chronicae

Chronicae is the international festival dedicated to historical novels that every spring brings to Piove di Sacco, in the province of Padua, the big names in fiction that tell the past to understand the present. Under the artistic direction of Matteo Strukul, four days of meetings, dialogues, and readings transform the Teatro Filarmonico and Palazzo Pinato Valeri into a storytelling laboratory, with Italian and international authors, schools, and readers. All meetings are free.

The Past to Understand the Present

Chronicae — International Festival of Historical Novels is the cultural event that has made Piove di Sacco, in the heart of the Saccisica area in the province of Padua, one of the national reference points for historical fiction. Four days of meetings with writers, dialogues, scenic readings, and events dedicated to schools make the festival a moment of comparison on the relationship between history, memory, and current events.

Matteo Strukul's Direction

The festival is conceived and organized by the SUGARPULP Cultural Association, with the artistic direction of Matteo Strukul, a best-selling historical fiction author, in collaboration with the Municipality of Piove di Sacco and with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the Veneto Region.

Two Venues in the Historic Center

The events take place between the Teatro Filarmonico and Palazzo Pinato Valeri, two symbolic places in the historic center of Piove di Sacco. Each edition revolves around a central theme that guides the selection of authors and topics addressed, always maintaining an international perspective.
