The Carnival party dedicated to the little ones in Piazza Mazzini
Every year, on Shrove Tuesday, Piazza Mazzini fills with colors, confetti, and laughter for the Children's Carnival of Macerata. It is the event that completes the carnival program of the provincial capital: while the Macerata Carnival brings allegorical floats to Giardini Diaz, this party carves out a space entirely dedicated to children and families, in the heart of the historic center of the Municipality of Macerata, in the province of Macerata, in the Marche region.
The event was born from the desire of Pro Loco Macerata, together with the Municipality, to offer children an opportunity for quality entertainment that is attentive to their needs: not just simple entertainment, but an afternoon tailor-made for the little ones. The square becomes a large open-air playground where masks, entertainment, and moments of pure fun follow one another until late afternoon.
Participation is completely free and open to all citizens: children are invited to come in costume to fully experience the magic of Carnival and, why not, win a prize in the costume contest.
Born just a few editions ago, the Children's Carnival has already become a consolidated tradition of Macerata's winter calendar, capable of drawing numerous families to the square. It is proof of how a simple and genuine popular festival, made of traditions and the desire to be together, can become one of the most anticipated events of the year for the children of Macerata.
The 4th Children's Carnival of Macerata was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Shrove Tuesday, in Piazza Mazzini from approximately 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, completing the city's carnival program alongside the 36th Macerata Carnival of Giardini Diaz.
The party, organized by Pro Loco Macerata with the Municipality, offered an afternoon entirely designed for children and families, with entertainment, creative masks, and moments of pure fun in the heart of the historic center.
Approximate program until around 6:30 PM. Free admission for all citizens.
